Iðunn: Urban Goddess
I embodied Iðunn, Norse goddess of youth, who guards the golden apples. The other gods and goddesses eat the golden apples, which keeps them from aging.
We dodged the rain, and we got to walk amongst these gorgeous apple blossoms. I had so much fun modeling that I was buzzing that entire week. It is so cool to feel seen through a camera lens. H is a professional, and she uses her camera to really SEE you. In the top photo, I’m wearing a necklace I won in an Instagram giveaway from the author Bryn Greenwood. It is engraved with the title of her heart-wrenching novel All the Ugly and Wonderful Things.
I changed into this sultry red dress in the middle of the orchard, and we laughed and posed and made some amazing images. And then the rain started and we high-tailed it to the car. We stopped for a lunch break at The Copper Vault, since we were up in Springfield, Tennessee.
After lunch, I put on my “street clothes” — my favorite jeans from Articles of Society, my Shirley Jackson shirt from Out of Print (I mean, don’t you just loooove We Have Always Lived in the Castle?), and a black flowing shirt from who knows where. The apple was SUCH a fun prop. Can you tell I’m into it?
Giving sass, all DAY. You guys. Do you see my tote bag on the bottom right? It’s from The Strand Bookstore. My sister brought it back for me from a trip to NYC. I brought ALLLL my bookish things for this shoot.

I’m also writing a short story on Iðunn, as very little is known about her in the mythology world. I’ll share it with you when it’s done.
